Sunrisers Hyderabad have named 18-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder RS Ambrish as the official replacement for Shivam Mavi, who has been sidelined for the rest of IPL 2026. Mavi was picked up by SRH at his base price of INR 75 Lakh during the recent player auction but has been forced out of the tournament after suffering a groin injury.
Ambrish, who bowls right-arm medium pace and bats left-handed, was a key member of India’s Under-19 World Cup winning side in 2026. He finished the tournament as one of India’s leading wicket-takers, picking up 11 wickets to share the top spot among Indian bowlers.
Born in 2007, the Tamil Nadu cricketer steps into an SRH bowling attack that has embraced youth with open arms this season. The franchise has shown tremendous faith in young talents such as Praful Hinge, 24, and Sakib Hussain, 21, both of whom have delivered impressively when called upon.
SRH continue to ride a strong wave of form, sitting third on the points table with 12 points after winning five consecutive matches. Their next assignment is a home fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders at their Hyderabad ground this Sunday, May 3.
